As a web entity, The Armchair Empire was established in 2000 after an idea for a call-in radio show soured. With a focus on "All Things Gaming" the site set out to cover not only video games but items on the periphery, items related to gaming like action figures and anime. There was also a drive to present wholly original content in the form of feature interviews and editorials.
The focus of The Armchair Empire remains the same, only the format and look have changed in the last (almost) dozen years. The site is included on Metacritic and Gamerankings for aggregated review scores.
Most of the staff have been with The Armchair Empire for more than seven years, forming a core of dedicated writers and gamers that continues to better themselves and their writing style. Much of The Armchair Empire's longevity has to do with they staying power of its writers.
On May 22, 2012 the Armchair Empire entered its new stage of evolution with The Armchair Empire - Infinite (ae-infinite.com), a blog format that allows faster posting of articles, integration of social media features, and more reader interaction. The site also has strong ties to our YouTube channel.
"The Propaganda Machine" is a writing outlet for co-founder and head writer, Aaron Simmer. Any views expressed are his own and do not reflect those of his employer or the other writers at The Armchair Empire.
